Not to come of completely shallow or anything but, Slim’s whole ethos of taking photos of ‘attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places’ is all I really need to hear to get me flipping feverishly through his enormous, heavier-than-an-Egyptian-pyramid-brick coffee table books, soaking up the candidly affluent lifestyles of the 60’s high society.
And especially coming off the back of apple tv’s newest release, Palm Royale (I’m obsessesd)- with mise en scène’s so quintessentially slim, all I am thinking is- wow these girls are soooo effortlessly stylishhh and so cool…why and how? and yes maybe a little bit has to do with the fact they are wealthy, gorgeous muses of Slim Aarons himself-HOWEVER-my ultimate and final conclusion is that the style is found all in the accessories…
Headscarves: silk preferably, tied as an over the hair headband- giving hippy ‘peace and love’, - such a contrast (but works so well) with the socialites 60s pop bikini and pearled layered necklace.
For cool silk scarfs try:
or maybe their star man square scarf
a trusty Pucci scarf (for the ultimate 60s vibe)
MAJOR sunglasses: nothing is more eye catching than the dramatic POP of a bug eyed, super round, super oversized pair of sunglasses
To get the 60s look try:
or for a more vintage vibe- these 1970s Balenciaga’s (model 7697)
3. Glossily Gold- a PSA: Chunky gold jewellery is in
Giving 60’s Cleopatra in the best way possible:
Alighieri The Wasteland Choker yes please
or for vintage: Susan Caplan 1980’s hammered collar necklace
Cleopatras Bling rings do very similar, gorgeous rings
although that white one of Britt Ecklands looks very La Manso
Also, I adore the tied silk scarf around the upper arm- such a fun touch while adding to the shiny essence of the look.
Big Foot cosplay- literally lol
In hopes we are looking at fake fur (although this is the 60s so maybe not- but let’s pretend ahaha), these women are so iconic for there après ski boots AND I just saw Emrata sporting a very similar pair down the Moncler f/w 24 show :
She looks like a little snow ball how cute! Unfortunately I’m struggling to find these on the market but these by Moon Boot are cool too.
And some honourable mentions too:
Lavish head-wraps-
And the sweetest little head scarves too-
Tell me, do you think the wealth of the 60’s accessorise better than we do now, or do I just have my Slim Aarons rose coloured glassed on?
ciao, ciao xx
i can confirm that buying some huge round sunglasses will turn you into a whole new woman lol
